Post Dragon Festival~ Re-lauch dragon mask?

first off, i know a few people will disagree because i should have kept it if it was so good, and that they already have them, why launch the event again..
well, the dragon festival with the AWESOME dragon masks was once held, a year back ago or something, but the festival hat maker, and extra storage were not invented till about another half year later... so, i thought by that time (only had guildwars about 4 months) that it would be possible to get them again next year... so, inventory was filling with items, and mask was hidden away in the last bag of my inventory, but then, like so many other people, i decided it was the dragon mask hats' time for to go... sure enough about a week later they said "lets bring out a hat guy" and i was kind of annoyed that i deleted the mask just before... it was EASILY the best mask of all time up to date, enough people will agree with me that the demon mask looked completely retarded... but loads of people lost their masks due to lack of storage, and no hat craftsmen.
  • There should be another weekend event held to be able to retain these masks and have boardwalk open for just 2 days.
OR
  • Accounts who have previously gotten the weekend masks should be able to get it from the hat craftsmen instead of having to take it there themselves for him to look at

Some of us weren't even playing Guild Wars back then.... myself included there....

I resent the fact that I was never able to get that Dragon hat. The Lion one is pathetic....

Objection. The Lion mask is undoubtedly the best hat they've done.
Personally, I never much liked the dragon mask, it looks rather silly. I wouldn't mind having one, but I don't see what the big fuss is over it.

I imagine eventually they're going to start recycling the hats, maybe even this year they could just use the 2005 Halloween hats, etc. They're not going to keep making new, slight variations each year.

I doubt they recycle hats. Probably they already made most of them (the demon masks can be easily obtained from those the NPCs wear in the festivals).

The only 'good way' to get such mask I can think of, is by players than hav them hadind them over to an NPC, and then, the sme number of masks would appear inside event gifts, such as wintersday or dragon festival ones.

That way, people could not complain, since the masks given to others would be given by those that agree on giviing them:
- Tal to hat maker
- Make some masks
- Give them to a 'Charity NPC' or some thing like that, in exchange of few event drops, something like 1 candy shard or victory token for each hat given.
- Then hats given would appear in gifts if they are used by someone that do not has that mask unlocked. Until they run out.

So if you where in the dragon festival, but could not get the dragon mask, if you use a gift in winsterday, and someone gave a dragon mask, you'll have an small chance of getting one.

I like the lion one. I like the dragon one more though. I just wish I kept my pumpkin crown rather than deleting them all for space. This was just before the festival hat maker.

But yeah, the dragon mask was quite early in the release of Factions and not as many people played back then. It was actually the reason I bought Factions too. I like the idea of it being a present for those that got the game earlier than the rest, but with the demon mask? I mean, come on! You may as well have re-released the dragon mask anyway!

I personally don't think they will remake the dragon mask, but I can't see any reason why not.

Those masks need to remain special. Don't recyle them.

One word for you and its not meant to be rude ... NO .... ill explain why, i started right after the release of factions and the dragon festival was one of the first events that i attended , its also the one that absorbed me ... later i was bummed to see other masks in which i wasnt able to obtain like the tengu for instance [ im a myth lore fan] i kept thinkin to myself plz drop an event that allows us to get one of those in which i missed. then it hit me there like a title or like a rare mini u get for ur bday .. it shows players how long uve been playing like a prestige thing and shouldnt be replicated. Infact i wear my dragon mask the most bc i love the design and it goes well with most armors ill choose for my chars. As for lettin it go im sorry to hear that, maybe they could implement it for only ppl who actual coulda attended the events or had an accnt at the time but dont have it anymore but not for ppl who werent able to. Also the dragon mask was the first runeable mask i believe though no armor was attached to it.

You already know what masks you characters could get but missed by any reason.

Type /age

If age is less than the occurrence of the mask, ding. you can get that one.

Well, the Lion's mask was for Canthan New Year and was based off the REAL Lion's Mask used to celebrate Chinesse New Year (which occured at the same time) so from a historical sense that hat made a lot of sense. What some are proposing about the Lion/Dragon mask is like giving an easter hat out on Christmas.

Anyway, back to the OP /partially not-signed
I don't think they should give the dragon mask to people who weren't there at the first one. HOWEVER, I do think they should give a NEW dragon mask next year instead of the demon mask. Ie, how they have 2 yule caps and pumpkin helms that are similar but not identical.

Countess Reapera Wants a Witches Hat!

It's always bothered me a bit that we havn't had the option of being able to go back and get hats from previous holidays. I do realize that they are prestige items for those that have been playing the game for a while, but I don't really see why we can't have the option of being able to make hats for our friends. Or reclaim hats that were lost before we had a storage option for them.

if someone wants a mask give him a mask, keep ur players happy for the intro of GW2!!! the more happy persons the more sales for the next episode!
and for those who say no, must be kept special we been on for 3 years or whatever time, the answer is simple: get a life!!!
I have all masks but wouldn't mind seeing new players enjoying the game as much as i do! no reason to built hatred and envy, balanced and fair was the principles of the game right?

Seems odd to respond right after my last post (not chronologically), but my opinion has sort of changed.

I can sort of see where those saying they shouldn't recycle hats are coming from, so I think we can sort of meet both ways. In 2005, they gave out a Jack'o'Lantern hat that was rather unique, and I think, one of my favorite hats. The same year, they also gave out yuletide caps and horns for Grenth.

The next year, in 2006, they gave out hats that looked similar, but they were noticeably different. They weren't close enough to ruin the specialness of the original hat, but they were similar enough so that you didn't really feel like you were missing out if you missed the hat from the previous year.

In 2007, I was very disappointed when they didn't let you get a new version of the witches hat, and some of my friends were disappointed they couldn't get a yule cap or a pumpkin crown. And the demon mask from Dragon Fest was just ugly. >_>

Perhaps, during the applicable festival, they could give us all the option of going and getting a "Ferocious Dragon Mask" or a "Wicked Witch Hat" from the Festival Hat Guy so we can get hats that are similar to previous years, but different enough to keep each hat unique.

That idea I like as it allows people to have their original 'special' hats and it also allows people who may have missed the event for whatever reason to get one that looks similar.

The Witches hat could have a little frog on it or something.

i really want the original dragons mask, but i deleted the character that had it before the hat crafter was made!

what if they made all festival hats craftable for 10k and some mats, at the max armour for your class and with rune/ insignia slots?

/not signed As much as I would like the first Hollloween Helm, I don't have one. Because I didn't understand about the Mad King comming until it was too late, I was off doing a mission somewhere and missed it. I don't think I should get one and if you were not there you should not get one, these helms are a reward for playing for the people who bought the game early.

/notsigned, because it's those one-chance kind of deals, and I'd like it to stay that way.

But to be honest, the Dragon Mask is probably the best looking mask out of them all. I'm sure people wouldn't complain about it as much if ANet actually took time to design a mask as well as that one. The last three event's masks were all pretty sour. The Lion mask doesn't look good to me either.

As far as remodeling it like the Yule Cap -> Stylish Yule Cap, or Pumpkin Crown -> Furious Pumpkin Crown, I wouldn't mind seeing something like that for the Dragon Mask, if it were actually good. Screwing up a rehash seems like it would spark more demand for the original.

I would /sign for any way to get a Dragon Mask. I got the game the WEEK OF Dragon Festival '06 and had no clue what was going on, so I never really got a chance to get a Dragon Mask (didn't even know about it until afterwards ). I say that those who cannot make events should be able to get the masks if they wanted.

MithranArkanere has a good idea, if your account was made before any event, then the hats from those events can be gained. With the exclusion of hats such as the Tengu Mask (although I would love one of those myself) where you needed a specific item to get it. But those who could have gotten those such masks should be able to as well. (by exclusion I meant by just the age of the account, in case you didn't understand)

Or, another idea, pay more to be able to show a hat from another character/account. Yes that will mean spammers of festival hats, but they are rather common (except maybe the Tengu one, I never see it) so the prices cannot be that high (worst case scenario, they are high for a week or so).

Personally, I think that if your account had access to the event, you should be able to get the mask (maybe a special NPC at the next event that the hat was given out for next year, or a new option at the Hat Maker NPC). With it being like this, then it will still stay somewhat uncommon, so those who say that it looks good and shouldn't be remade (for their e-peens to be loooooooooonger) wouldn't get too upset.
